GRFU Chair - job description

  • This is a three-year appointment followed by a rolling annual appointment, and according to Incorporation shall be approved each year by the AGM
  • Is an Officer of the GRFU and the senior ranking Executive Officer
  • Chairs the Executive Committee with responsibility for the day to day operation of the CB; this body meets circa 6 times per annum, although circumstances may dictate a greater frequency
  • Chairs the Management Board with the responsibilities that entails; this body meets circa 8 times per annum
  • Responsible for ensuring the implementation of the GRFU Strategy to drive through the priority initiatives
  • Makes day to day operational decisions in association with appropriate Executive Committee members
  • Is Line Manager for the County Administrator, with the option of delegating this responsibility
  • Will conduct regular health checks of the organisation and keep succession planning at the forefront of deliberations
  • Attends and advises, when necessary and where possible, the Sector committee meetings at least once per year
  • Acts as CB nominee to the Rugby Football Union and represents the County at appropriate RFU conferences
